Spearmint \Spear"mint`\, n. [So named from its spiry, not capitate, inflorescence. --Dr. Prior.] (Bot.) A species of mint ({Mentha viridis}) growing in moist soil. It vields an aromatic oil. See {Mint}, and {Mentha}.
