To emit air, chiefly through the nose, audibly and violently,
by a kind of involuntary convulsive force, occasioned by
irritation of the inner membrane of the nose.
{Not to be sneezed at}, not to be despised or contemned; not
to be treated lightly. [Colloq.] ``He had to do with old

The act of violently forcing air out through the nasal
passages while the cavity of the mouth is shut off from the
pharynx by the approximation of the soft palate and the base
of the tongue.
- In 1893, the first motion-picture close-up was filmed at the Edison studio in West Orange, N.J., as cameraman William Dickson photographed comedian Fred Ott sneezing.
- Coughing and sneezing in his bakery filled with drifting tear gas, he termed reunification "a stupid idea" and called the students "simply crazy." "Students are not politicians.
- It is carried in the nose and throat and is passed through sneezing and other secretions from the nose and mouth.
