{Scabbard fish} (Zo["o]l.), a long, compressed,
silver-colored t[ae]nioid fish ({Lepidopus argyreus} syn.
{Lepidopus caudatus}), found on the European coasts, and
more abundantly about New Zealand, where it is called
{frostfish} and considered an excellent food fish.
