Heptachord \Hep"ta*chord\, n. [Gr. "epta`chordos seven-stringed;

1. (Anc. Mus.)
(a) A system of seven sounds.
(b) A lyre with seven chords.
2. (Anc. Poet.) A composition sung to the sound of seven
