More than 100 firefighters battled a lightning fire in Georgia that has burned at least 750 acres of the Okefenokee Swamp.
All public use of the refuge and the Stephen Foster State Park on its west side was cut off. The Okefenokee Swamp Park, a private attraction on the north edge of the swamp, remained open.
The more than four inches of rain that drenched the Florida peninsula also doused the biggest part of a 40-day-old fire in the Okefenokee Swamp.
