None of the Adige's 22-member crew was injured and the vessel suffered only minor damage.
All others aboard the Jupiter were rescued, and no injuries were reported from the Adige.
The Jupiter's chief mate, Kyriakos Moustakis, said the Adige was heading toward the cruise ship on a collision course and failed to change direction.
It was the third blast in recent days in Italy's Alto Adige province, torn by ethnic tensions between its German-speaking and Italian-speaking inhabitants.
The blasts came the day after Parliament gave final approval to a new agreement granting more autonomy and other benefits to the German-speaking residents of Alto Adige, or South Tyrol, in northern Italy.
