Abstract: This paper focuses on the key and difficult technical problem of crest overflow of concrete faced rockfill dams(CFRD).Through a large number of statistics of recorded deformation data and analysis of deformation features under unfavourable deformation condition and it impact on upper structure performance,including the effects on water retaining sluice gate,flood relief structure,drainage structures etc.Some engineering measures are put forward,and the cost and the period of construction are analysed.Finally,it is concluded that the crest overflow sheme of CFRD is technically feasible and the economic benefit is remarkable.
